Qalyubia Studies Housing and Service Projects on 68 Feddans in Khanka

Monday, October 26, 2026 – 8:00 AM

Qalyubia Governorate is studying plans to make better use of unused state-owned land by developing housing and service projects to meet residents’ needs.

The proposed plan focuses on the area known as “Al-Kollia and Its Sisters” in El-Qalaj, Khanka City, covering approximately 68 feddans.

Qalyubia Governor Hossam Abdel Fattah said the governorate aims to maximize the use of state-owned properties and support development projects that provide better services for residents. The proposed development may include a residential complex and alternative housing projects as part of the state's broader housing efforts.

The governorate is reviewing a proposed plan that would combine residential units with essential services, complementing national efforts to provide 500,000 housing units.

The governor also directed the relevant authorities to accelerate coordination and complete the required procedures concerning the 68-feddan site. These steps are intended to finalize the proposed development plan before moving forward with implementation in accordance with applicable regulations.

Abdel Fattah stressed that the proposed project should provide an integrated urban environment, including essential services for residents, while ensuring the effective use of currently unused state-owned land.

The initiative forms part of wider efforts to expand housing opportunities, provide suitable alternative accommodation for eligible citizens and support sustainable urban development across Qalyubia Governorate.
