*Major Shahab El-Din Sherif had one choice: to save himself, or to go back into the water and rescue the prisoners. And here he chose to do his duty.*

A police transport vehicle overturned in a canal on the Desouq – Kafr El Sheikh road, and Major Shahab El-Din Sherif got out of it with an injured arm.

He didn’t think about escaping. His only thought was how to save the prisoners, not himself… so he went back into the water.

He secured the weapons, and started rescuing the driver and the prisoners one by one. He refused to leave the scene until he made sure everyone was out safely.

It is worth mentioning that the people he risked his life to save were prisoners in his custody.

But in that moment of danger… he didn’t see prisoners, he saw lives that had to be saved.
