African-Asian-Latin American Media Union Expands Cooperation with Rossiya Segodnya in Moscow

Moscow – The African-Asian-Latin American Media Union has taken a new step toward expanding international media cooperation by signing a memorandum of understanding with Rossiya Segodnya, the Russian state-owned international news agency and media group headquartered in Moscow.

The agreement aims to strengthen media cooperation between Russia and countries of the Global South through content exchange, professional expertise, joint media projects and international events.

The memorandum was signed in the presence of Nizar Al-Khaled, President of the African-Asian-Latin American Media Union, alongside senior representatives of Rossiya Segodnya and Sputnik.

Al-Khaled stressed that the real value of the memorandum lies not in the signing itself, but in transforming the agreement into practical programs and sustainable media projects that benefit journalists and media institutions across the Global South.

He also highlighted the cultural and historical ties connecting Russia with many societies in Asia and Africa, emphasizing the role of cultural exchange in strengthening professional and human relations.

Referring to the shared cultural understanding between the peoples, Al-Khaled said: “The cultural code unites us.”

The cooperation also includes opportunities for professional training through the Sputnik Pro program, as well as joint content production, media events and the exchange of journalistic expertise.

At the conclusion of the meeting, Al-Khaled presented a recognition award to Olga Lisogor in appreciation of her efforts in supporting and strengthening media cooperation between Russia and institutions across Asia and Africa.

The memorandum represents a new opportunity to build broader media partnerships connecting Russia with journalists and media organizations across Asia, Africa and Latin America.
