*Three people were killed and 17 injured* on Thursday after a *helium gas cylinder exploded* inside a gift shop on the ground floor of a mall in *Cairo's 5th Settlement*.

The *Ministry of Interior* stated the blast caused a *limited fire*, which *Civil Protection forces* quickly brought under control. Facades of neighboring shops were also damaged.

A security source denied social media reports about an *elevator collapse* in the mall.

The *Ministry of Health* dispatched *8 ambulances*. *11 injured* were taken to New Cairo Specialized Hospital, while *6 others* were transferred to nearby hospitals.

Authorities are investigating the cause of the explosion.
