Dr. Ayman Mohaseb, a Member of the Egyptian House of Representatives, said that the Egyptian-Chinese summit held today in Cairo between President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi and Chinese President Xi Jinping carries important strategic implications that go beyond the traditional framework of bilateral relations.
Mohaseb said the summit reflects a shared understanding of the importance of strengthening coordination between Egypt and China amid rapid changes in the international system and growing regional and international crises.
He noted that the summit coincides with the 70th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Egypt and China, emphasizing that bilateral relations have developed beyond their historical dimension into a multidimensional partnership covering economic and political cooperation as well as coordination in international forums.
The MP highlighted the importance of defending the interests of developing countries and increasing their participation in shaping the future of the international system, noting the convergence between Cairo and Beijing on this issue.
He also stressed the importance of Egyptian-Chinese coordination in supporting regional stability, reducing escalation, respecting the sovereignty and security of Gulf states and Jordan, and ensuring freedom of navigation.
Mohaseb concluded that the Egyptian-Chinese partnership is expected to become more influential in the coming period, extending beyond economic cooperation to include regional security, reform of the international system, support for developing countries, and promoting dialogue and diplomacy as tools for resolving crises.
