Details of Confessions by 9 Suspects Accused of Exploiting 11 Children in Begging in Cairo

Nine suspects admitted during investigations in Cairo that they had exploited 11 vulnerable children in begging, soliciting money from passersby, and aggressively selling goods on several streets across the capital.

The suspects admitted that they had encouraged the children to remain in the streets and appeal to citizens in order to generate financial gains.

Children Exploited in Begging and Selling Goods

Investigations revealed that the children found with the suspects were being exploited to solicit money from passersby and sell goods aggressively, taking advantage of their young age and ability to attract sympathy.

During questioning, the suspects admitted to carrying out the activity and exploiting the children in begging and aggressive street sales.

9 Suspects Arrested With 11 Children

The General Administration for Juvenile Welfare Investigations, affiliated with the Specialized Police Sector, arrested six men and three women, seven of whom had previous criminal records, while they were exploiting 11 vulnerable children in begging and aggressive street selling.

The suspects admitted their activities when confronted with the investigation findings, and the necessary legal procedures were taken against them.

Children Returned to Their Families

Following the arrests, the necessary measures were taken to protect the children. Those whose families could be located were handed over to their relatives after the required undertakings for proper care were obtained.

Authorities also coordinated with the relevant agencies regarding children whose families could not be located, in preparation for placing them in a care facility to protect them from exploitation and further danger.
