Today, Major General Amr El-Gharib, Governor of Menoufia, received a delegation from the Islamic Research Academy of Al-Azhar, headed by Professor Dr. Mohamed El-Gendy, Secretary-General of the Academy, and his accompanying delegation. This meeting took place on the sidelines of the inauguration of the Fatwa and Reconciliation Committee at the Reconciliation Complex in Shebin El-Kom, under the auspices of His Eminence the Grand Imam, Professor Dr. Ahmed El-Tayeb, Sheikh of Al-Azhar.
This comes within the framework of the state's efforts to strengthen the role of religious institutions in addressing family and social issues, providing enlightened and moderate fatwas, and supporting social cohesion. Also present were Major General Abdullah El-Deeb, Secretary-General of the Governorate, and Sheikh Hisham Ammar, Director-General of the Menoufia Preaching Zone and Head of the Fatwa Committees. The Governor of Menoufia welcomed the delegation from the Islamic Research Academy, expressing his pride in the national and educational role played by Al-Azhar in disseminating the true teachings of Islam and consolidating the values of moderation and tolerance. He described Al-Azhar as a beacon of knowledge and advocacy that contributes to confronting extremist ideology and enhancing societal awareness. He also highlighted the vital role played by the preaching department and the fatwa committees in the governorate, emphasizing his commitment to providing all forms of support to religious institutions that contribute to strengthening social cohesion and fostering intellectual security among the governorate's residents.
For their part, the delegation from the Islamic Research Academy explained that the new headquarters has been equipped and developed with the latest technology, enabling the fatwa committee to perform its duties in a scholarly, organized, and legitimate manner. They commended the Governor of Menoufia for his support of all institutions and his tangible efforts on the ground to achieve sustainable development across all service and development sectors, which ultimately improves the quality of life for citizens. Following the reception, Major General Abdullah Al-Deeb, the governorate's secretary-general, and a delegation from the Islamic Research Academy inaugurated the headquarters of the Fatwa and Reconciliation Committee, in the presence of Sheikh Hassan Darwish, head of the Central Administration for the Menoufia region. The committee aims to spread awareness of the foundations of family stability, support a culture of positive dialogue, and present rational methods for dealing with family challenges and problems, in addition to establishing correct rules for raising children and clarifying their rights and the duties of parents, through specialized scholars, which contributes to addressing many family and social issues according to the moderate Azharite approach.
