Tasnim: Iran’s Revolutionary Guards Target U.S. Unmanned Boat in Strait of Hormuz
Iranian news agency Tasnim reported on Thursday evening that naval forces affiliated with the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps targeted a U.S. unmanned boat in the Strait of Hormuz.
According to Iranian sources cited by Tasnim, the American unmanned vessel, identified as a Saildrone Explorer, was carrying out a mission in the strategic waterway before being targeted by Iranian naval forces.
The Iranian account said the operation was part of Tehran’s efforts to monitor and control foreign military movements in the area, adding that Iranian naval forces were closely watching any activity they considered suspicious within the strait.
The reported incident comes amid escalating military tensions between Iran and the United States around the Strait of Hormuz, following a series of maritime confrontations and attacks involving vessels linked to both sides.
The Strait of Hormuz is one of the world’s most strategically important waterways because of its crucial role in global oil and energy shipments.
