Lymphatic Exercises and Swelling
Lymphatic exercises have gained attention on social media as a way to reduce bloating and swelling. These gentle movements include deep breathing, walking, ankle movements, and heel raises.
Muscle movement helps support lymph fluid circulation and may benefit people with certain types of swelling. However, abdominal bloating is often linked to digestive issues rather than lymphatic fluid buildup.
Lymphedema occurs when the lymphatic system cannot drain fluid properly, while general fluid retention may result from several conditions, including vein, heart, kidney, or liver problems.
Lymphatic exercises are not a detox treatment or a guaranteed way to lose weight. Persistent swelling should be medically assessed, and sudden swelling in one leg, especially with pain, redness, or warmth, requires urgent medical attention.
