Engineering Student Remanded in Custody Over Death of Father and Daughter in Sharqia
The Zagazig District Prosecution in Sharqia Governorate ordered an engineering student to be detained for four days pending investigations after he allegedly caused the death of a man and his young daughter and injured his wife when his car struck them near a wedding procession.
The incident occurred on the Al-Ishraf Road Bridge in Zagazig District, where a wedding procession was reportedly taking place and vehicles were performing driving stunts.
Security authorities received a report of the accident and immediately moved to the scene. Initial investigations showed that 37-year-old Abdo Abu Al-Maati Ismail, a worker in 10th of Ramadan City and a resident of Al-Ishraf village, was involved in the incident.
His three-year-old daughter, Doaa, died as a result of injuries sustained in the accident, while her mother was also injured and transferred to hospital for medical treatment.
The competent authorities are continuing their investigations to determine the circumstances of the accident and establish legal responsibility. The prosecution subsequently ordered the accused student to remain in custody for four days pending further investigations.
