Al Ahly Nears Foreign Defender Signing

Al Ahly are reportedly close to completing a deal for a foreign defender ahead of the January transfer window, as the club works to strengthen its squad for the remainder of the season.

According to a source cited in the original report, negotiations for the defensive signing are nearing completion. Strengthening the back line has become a priority following Amr El-Gazzar’s anterior cruciate ligament injury and concerns over the performances of some players in the position.

The club is also considering reinforcements in defensive midfield, particularly the number six role, to provide the coaching staff with more options and improve the team's balance.

Al Ahly's football management is coordinating its transfer plans with head coach Hussein Ammouta, with the aim of addressing the squad's needs and maintaining competitiveness across all competitions.

The club has not officially announced the identity of the reported defensive target or confirmed the completion of the deal.
