After rumors linking him to Aston Villa, Ibañez confirms his future with Al-Ahli Jeddah

Al-Ahli Saudi FC announced on Sunday, via its X platform account, the renewal of Brazilian defender Roger Ibañez's contract until 2030.

The club posted photos of the contract renewal ceremony, commenting, "Some stories are told... and some are written in gold."

The announcement of Ibañez's continued stay comes after reports that English club Aston Villa were interested in signing him this summer.

Roger Ibañez joined Al-Ahli in August 2023 and has since made 124 appearances across all competitions, scoring 14 goals and providing 9 assists.

Ibañez and his teammates have won two consecutive AFC Champions League titles and one Saudi Super Cup.

It is worth noting that Roger Ibanez recently returned to play for the Brazilian national team, as he was included in the "Samba" squad for the 2026 World Cup.
