The US military announced Wednesday that it had completed a new wave of strikes lasting two hours that hit dozens of targets in Iran. Washington described the strikes as a "strong response" to Iranian missiles fired at US forces in the Middle East a day earlier.

On Tuesday, the US military announced it had intercepted several ballistic missiles launched by Iran toward US forces, which Washington described as an Iranian attempt to launch a "surprise attack".
Iran confirmed it had launched attacks on US bases in Jordan.
Following the interception, President Donald Trump said US forces would respond, adding: "We will hit them very hard."

US Central Command described the latest strikes on X as a "strong response to Iran's attempts yesterday to launch attacks targeting US forces stationed in the Middle East."
CENTCOM said the US strikes began at 8:00 PM Eastern Time Wednesday (00:00 GMT Thursday) and ended at 10:00 PM Eastern (02:00 GMT Thursday).
In a statement, CENTCOM said "CENTCOM assets targeted dozens of sites belonging to the IRGC inside Iran, including military command centers, missile and drone facilities, surveillance and coastal defense sites, and naval capabilities."
