Gold has returned to trading above the psychological support level of $4,000 per ounce, after encountering strong resistance around the $4,200 per ounce level, which caused it to reverse its downward movement and continue its downward trend.

Saxo Bank indicated in its latest report that the $4,000 per ounce level has proven its strength as a support zone, and that the selling pressure around the $4,200 per ounce level suggests that investors are continuing to reduce their long positions on any upward price rebound.

Markets are currently pricing in a 57% probability that the Federal Reserve will raise interest rates at its upcoming September meeting, down from expectations approaching 70% before the last Fed meeting.
