Gold Prices Drop in Egypt Today: 21K Falls by 10 EGP to 5870
Local gold declines despite global ounce rally to 4062 dollars amid dollar dip
Gold prices in Egypt rose slightly during trading on Tuesday, July 21, 2026, supported by higher global gold prices, while a slight decline in the US dollar exchange rate against the Egyptian pound limited the gains, according to Gold Billion data and analysis.
Gold prices today in Egypt:
24K gold: 6710 EGP
21K gold: 5870 EGP
18K gold: 5030 EGP
14K gold: 3910 EGP
Gold pound: 46960 EGP
Global gold ounce: 4062 USD
Gold Billion report stated that local gold benefited from the recovery in global ounce prices after forming a price base above 5800 EGP per gram. However, prices failed to break through the resistance level at 5900 EGP and edged slightly lower.
Global gold was supported by growing expectations of progress in diplomatic efforts to reach a ceasefire between the United States and Iran, which helped the precious metal recover after a wave of declines.
On the other hand, the drop in the dollar rate in banks to around 51 EGP curbed the strength of local gold gains. The exchange rate remains one of the key factors influencing gold pricing in the Egyptian market alongside global ounce movements.
The report noted that local demand for gold remains strong, driven by consumer appetite for jewelry, gold bars, and coins following the price drop, coinciding with the summer holiday season and the return of Egyptians working abroad.
It added that sustained high demand may push some companies to increase gold imports to meet market needs, which raises the final cost due to foreign currency procurement expenses, shipping, and transfer fees.
Globally, gold ounce rose to 4062 USD after touching a one-week high of 4084 USD, but still faces strong resistance between 4080 and 4100 USD, as markets continue to monitor US monetary policy developments and the possibility of interest rates staying higher for longer.
