Egyptian Prime Minister Discusses AI and Cybersecurity Cooperation with Cisco

Egyptian Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly met with Chuck Robbins, Chairman and CEO of Cisco Systems, and his accompanying delegation to discuss strengthening cooperation between the Egyptian government and the global technology company in information and communications technology, artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, skills development and innovation.


The meeting was attended by Raafat Hindi, Minister of Communications and Information Technology, and Ahmed El-Zaher, CEO of the Information Technology Industry Development Agency.


Madbouly welcomed the Cisco delegation and emphasized Egypt’s long-standing cooperation with the company, stressing the government’s keenness to expand the partnership, particularly in ICT and artificial intelligence.


He said Cisco remains a high-priority partner for the Egyptian government and expressed Egypt’s interest in attracting further cooperation and investments that support the country’s digital transformation and technological capabilities.


The Prime Minister also highlighted the importance of expanding Cisco’s training and capacity-building programs in Egypt, particularly initiatives designed to qualify Egyptian youth for internationally recognized technology certifications.


Chuck Robbins said Cisco has made significant progress in its partnership with Egypt and expressed the company’s interest in exploring new cooperation opportunities.


He noted that Cisco has important investments and activities in Egypt and places significant emphasis on education and digital skills development. He revealed that Cisco’s programs have so far trained and educated around 670,000 students, with plans to significantly increase that number.


Robbins also pointed to opportunities for cooperation in innovation, including potential innovation centers, cybersecurity initiatives addressing risks associated with artificial intelligence technologies and models, and the development of AI-based applications.


The Cisco CEO emphasized the important role Egypt can play in technology and artificial intelligence and confirmed the company’s readiness to continue discussions with the Egyptian government on future cooperation opportunities.


Minister Raafat Hindi described Cisco as a strategic partner for Egypt, noting the company’s contributions to national digital transformation projects, youth training and several development initiatives.


Both sides concluded the meeting by emphasizing the importance of continued coordination to explore new cooperation opportunities, particularly in artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, innovation, skills development and advanced technology applications.
