Egypt Condemns Attack on Kuwaiti Tanker in Strait of Hormuz
Cairo calls the assault a dangerous escalation and threat to international navigation
The Arab Republic of Egypt strongly condemned the attack targeting the Kuwaiti tanker "Kifan" while crossing the Strait of Hormuz, which resulted in injuries to several crew members. Egypt considered the attack a dangerous escalation and a violation of international law and the rules of freedom of maritime navigation, threatening the security and stability of the Gulf region and the safety of international sea lanes.
Egypt affirmed its full solidarity with the sister state of Kuwait, and its support for all measures it takes to preserve its security, sovereignty and protect its interests. It renewed its categorical rejection of any attack targeting Arab countries or threatening the security of international navigation and the safety of global trade routes.
Egypt also called for an immediate cessation of all escalation acts, adherence to the principles of international law and the UN Charter, and prioritizing diplomatic solutions and dialogue to contain tension and preserve regional and international security and stability.
