The Fund for Combating and Treating Addiction and Abuse has launched a new phase of its “You Are Stronger Than Drugs” awareness campaign, highlighting the dangers of drug addiction under the slogan: “Drugs take away everything you love… Don’t let addiction write the end of your life.”
The new advertisement tells the story of a young woman whose life is severely affected by drug use. She loses her job and her engagement is called off, illustrating the devastating impact addiction can have on work, relationships and future plans.
The campaign presents the issue through an emotional drama aimed at raising awareness of the consequences of substance abuse, particularly among young people and women.
Dr. Amr Othman, Director of the Fund for Combating and Treating Addiction and Abuse, said that work is underway to implement the National Strategy for Combating Drugs and Reducing the Risks of Drug Use and Addiction, launched under the patronage of the President of Egypt.
The strategy focuses on prevention through age-appropriate awareness programs, strengthening prevention efforts in educational and youth institutions, supporting families through early detection programs, and creating educational and sports environments that help young people reject drug use.
The strategy also emphasizes the role of religious institutions in correcting misconceptions about drug use, while promoting awareness of free addiction treatment, early detection, rehabilitation and support services.
The “You Are Stronger Than Drugs” campaign has previously featured influential public figures and received significant attention both locally and internationally. Several international organizations have recognized it as an example of an effective anti-drug awareness campaign, while China’s Ministry of Public Security described it as an inspiring campaign and translated it into Chinese.
